The river calls

The last night at Michi retreat. This place has been spectacular.

Hours of music have moved my body in spirals and swirls

While water cascades down rocky slides beneath the glass wall

Surrounded by art and etchings of dance and music

The river calls

All to crumble into her flow

Beyond my bedroom window at night

Aside from the company of starlight

And geckos thundering through the air waves

Miniature elephants on a midnight rampage

The river calls

Paths weave through crevices and cliff faces

The only lifeline to

Retreats etched into steep cliff faces

Crumble under the weight of water

As the river calls

My last inhalations of these vast churning airs

Move through unannounced

Swirling around my body

Moving beneath to lift me high

Tumbling in the ether

The river is hungry

Insatiable

She seeks my flesh

The threatening tumble

Of body onto rocks

Alerts my drifting mind

Eyes dart open

Feet move back

Away from the lure

As the river calls

My answer is silent this eve

The walls though are not so stubborn

Bit by bit they return the call

Succumbing to the violent ebb and flow

Of the rivers call
